What is testing & tagging?
Equipment testing & tagging is most commonly referred to as test & tag. There are different types of test & tag services and some of the most specialized types include professionally testing lifting equipment. Regardless of the type of equipment that needs testing and tagging, the first step is always to do detailed tests. This is usually done by inspecting the equipment, while using it, to measure its safety levels and how it compares with required Australian Standards.
After the testing is done, it’s time for tagging. The tag is applied to the equipment, device, or cord and it states critical information. This includes the date it was tested, whether it passed or failed and, if passed, a required retest date. Any items deemed faulty or that have failed the testing process will then be marked with a failed tag. At this point, the professional test and tag expert will advise on the next appropriate steps. Typical examples of things that need regular testing and tagging include the following:
- Computers, printers, and other office equipment
- Power tools, battery chargers, workshop machinery
- Industrial fall-arrest systems
- Extension leads and power boards
- Kitchen Appliances
